Hello, my name is Julia Travassos and I am currently a senior nursing student at the University of New England. I was introduced to the field of nursing in high school. I went to a public technical high school that had a program called allied health. Through this program, we learned the skills needed to become CNA’s and start our path into the medical field. This program solidified my love for the medical field, especially nursing, and the different ways in which you are able to help and touch people’s lives. I have worked for 4 years at local assisted living, as well as brief interned at Falmouth Hospital in Massachusetts on the labor and delivery floor. My ultimate career goal has always been to become a midwife and get to be with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies and beyond. My three years at UNE have continued to expand my knowledge of nursing and pushed me harder to achieve my ultimate goals. I can’t wait to learn and grow more as a student, person, and nurse.
